Service Description

If you compete in or train agility, you already know that precision, coordination and confidence on the course don't just happen - they're built. Movement Puzzles, created by Mari Valgma of The Moving Canine, are one of the best tools I know for building exactly that, without needing a jump, a tunnel or a full agility set-up. Based around a simple two-bowl pattern, these exercises ask your dog to move independently between two points, working out for themselves how to handle tight turns, uneven surfaces, narrow gaps and more - all without cues from you. That independent problem-solving is what makes them so powerful for agility dogs: better body awareness, stronger coordination and the confidence to try something new and get it right, which translates directly onto the course. In this four week course, we'll focus specifically on how Movement Puzzles apply to agility training. You'll get hands-on time with your dog, and plenty of chances to ask questions and problem-solve during the sessions. By the end of the course, you'll: ✅ Know how to get started with the two bowl game - the foundation every Movement Puzzle builds on ✅ Understand the main puzzles that support agility performance - and why each one matters for a dog working at speed ✅ Feel confident adapting puzzles to troubleshoot specific issues - whether that's a tight turn one way but not the other, hesitation on new surfaces or a dog who rushes and loses precision You'll leave with exercises you can start using straightaway, and a much clearer eye for how your own dog moves. This is a regular group class at the Sand Pit in Torquay. Note that this is an outdoor venue, so classes may be rescheduled depending on the weather.
