When it all just goes a bit wrong

A few days ago we headed out to a local airshow. I chose to leave Ripley with my parents, because he hates crowds and just hanging around. He has stuff to do (although whilst at my parent's house that 'stuff' is mostly sleeping, interrupted by occasional eating 😂)

Peak came with us, because I knew he would be quite happy in the environment and he does enjoy a day out. All good so far...

The first time we took Peak to the airshow, I forgot to take water for him. This resulted in trying to share my water (there are refill stations, so plenty available), but with no bowl it wasn't ideal. So - first thing I sorted for our afternoon out was water for him! Then drinks and snacks for us. Grabbed my hiking rucksack at first, but as that's basically just a running vest it wasn't quite big enough for everything I wanted to take. Of course I wanted to take a waterproof, because Great British weather... Even though the water bottle for Peak had an integrated bowl I took the folding bowl out of my hiking bag to put into the slightly bigger rucksack. However...

As we were driving over to the seafront I realised that I hadn't got any dog treats on me. No real biggie, as it would probably take Peak a fortnight to realise that he hadn't eaten anything recently. I could always sneak him a crisp or two. The main problem only occurred to me as I was getting him out of the car. Poo bags.

Here's the thing; I'd got changed before coming out into essentially clean clothes. Meaning empty pockets. No poo bags, no treats. Because those two things are semi-permanent residents in nearly everything I own that has a pocket (please tell me you can relate?!?) The rucksack I'd grabbed was one I haven't used in a long while, and rarely use. It didn't have a roll of bags in there (it does now 😉). Finally, we were in my husband's car. Where my car could give Pets at Home a run for their money in terms of what's in stock, the best he could offer was a giant Lidl bag for life 😱 So I just waited for the first people I saw with a dog (sat outside the nearest pub) and managed to scrounge a poo bag. Which of course we never then needed 😂

Please tell me it's not just me that has days like this? I'm going to have to secrete a roll of poo bags in my husband's car now! There was this one time that I needed to use the rope he keeps in the car for strapping stuff to the roofracks as a lead... Oh dear.

Anyway, we had a lovely afternoon. It didn't rain, so I didn't get to try out my new poncho, and Peak didn't poo so I still have the poo bag I cadged! Peak slept through most of the airshow (he opened an eye when the Typhoon first flew over), and made some new friends. Standard.

What's in your 'must take' bag? Usually. Like, when it doesn't all go wrong 🙈 Head over to Facebook and comment to let me know ⬇️⬇️⬇️
